The club has established a running and athletics section. This section of the club is somthing that all members will at some point participate in as part of training for other sports. However because of growing interest we have decided to have a dedicated athletics section that is open to existing members and anyone who wants to join the club to take up athletics.
We are intersted in children that want to particpate and have fun and we are interested in children that want to compete and try to win. That is the Broomhill way.
Training Schedule:
Tuesday & Thursays 6 till 7.15pm at Kelvinhall (winter programme)
Broomhill Primary Tuesday & Friday mornings. Meet 7.45am at School
Hyndland Primary starting this spring
Coaches - Cara Moyes, , Kevin Niven, Margaret Louden, Alan MacKay
If you are interested in athletics to be competative or to get fit please call us to find out how you can join in. (Steve on 07980 818 626)
Volunteers:
The club needs Parents to get involved with this section of the club. Whether its coaching on the track or overseeing the children from the sidelines .
If you think you can help in anyway please get in touch.
Skill 1 – The 2:2 breathing method
To be a great cross country runner you need to get your breathing right so you don’t get a ‘stitch’
1 - Choose a foot to begin your breathing pattern. When you walk or run on that foot breathe in. TWO steps later breathe out 2 - Don’t breathe in again for another TWO steps after that 3 -This is the 2:2 breathing rhythm and is used by all top athletes for long distance races.
